Rev. Curtis Morton
Bethel Methodist Preacher
Reverend Curtis Morton considers it a blessing to have grown up in a local church in Southeast Texas where the message was central. There he received vital training in the things of God and met his childhood sweetheart, Tammy. They recently celebrated their 33ndwedding anniversary. Curtis and Tammy have two grown sons, one of whom is married, and a teenage daughter at home.
After graduating Lamar University in 1985, Pastor Curtis accepted his first pastorate in his home church in Port Neches. It was one of the sweetest periods of his life. In 2004, Pastor Curtis accepted the call to pastor the Bethel Methodist Church of North Texas where he ministered for eleven years. Currently, he resides in Lumberton Texas where he enjoys fishing and time in his study. He travels regularly to preach and teach the Word of God supporting the pastoral needs of the Bethel Methodist Church.
“God’s Truth has changed my life!”
When I first heard an accurate presentation of the Gospel, something very real and wonderful occurred in my heart. I felt the inward fire of God’s Word wielded by the Holy Spirit of God. The thrill and excitement in my soul was indescribable, beyond words, so satisfying, yet creating a desperate hunger for more. “As the deer pants after water, so pants my soul after Him” - to drink in His love and goodness to satisfy that inner thirst. The most noble pursuit of anyone’s life is to know the One, the Creator, the true God in a saving relationship. He is so wonderful to know, to love and to serve.
During my early years of seeking after Him, another fire began to burn within me. Not fully understanding its meaning, I sought relief for the new inner longings. In God’s perfect timing, I realized it was His calling upon my life to preach His Message. After preaching and pastoring for over 30 years, I still find that holy fire burning in my bones to perceive Him accurately and present Him with passion. Preaching His Truth is the most difficult and most satisfying thing I have ever done. God’s Truth has changed my life!
I pray that you also may find the deep and satisfying answers to your heart’s longing. They are found in one place alone; in the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ.
“And you are complete – in Him…” Colossians 2:10
